St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, a prominent fixture for many generations in Millbury, will officially celebrate its 150th anniversary on Oct. 10.

Millbury mayor Michael Timmons, Walbridge mayor Ed Kolanko, Lake Township police chief Brandon Rosebrock, and Lake Township fiscal officer John Ervin were all sent a letter on Oct. 1 thanking them for their cooperation in a recent Public Protection Classification (PPC) survey.

Michael Heck, a former Clay High School science teacher who pleaded no contest to a pair of first-degree misdemeanor counts of assault on July 30, received a 10-day jail sentence and two years probation on Sept. 30.

The Jeffris Family Foundation has awarded the Hayes Presidential Library and Museums a major grant to help fund a $2.2 million restoration of the historic Hayes Home.

On Sept. 19, officials at Clay High School unveiled a new landmark mural on the exterior of the Harold R. Potter Fieldhouse, which was created by local artist and 1996 Clay graduate Dean Davis.

Village officials in Oak Harbor announced that its previously proposed property tax reduction will not appear on the November ballot due to a filing error. Instead, they intend to put it on the May 2026 ballot.
