Pemberville man accused of murder in father’s death

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Sept. 30 reported that 66-year-old Raymond Dannenberger was found stabbed to death outside his Pemberville home.

Police were dispatched to the residence in the 1000 block of Devil’s Hole Road at 9:13 p.m. Sept. 29, where his body was found. They pronounced him dead on the scene.

His son, Richard Gene Dannenberger, 36, was then located at a nearby home and taken into custody. He is currently booked at the Wood County jail, charged with murder.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is helping with the investigation.

Richard Gene Dannenberger is being held on $500,000 bond per the Wood County Sheriff’s website. He appeared in court the afternoon of Oct. 1, where the Wood County prosecutor alleged that Richard also strangled his father’s wife, who survived the attack, and killed a dog at the residence where the incident occurred.
