The Schoonmaker Shines

Posted

After a recent lighting ceremony, The National Museum of the Great Lakes’s museum ship, the Col. James M. Schoonmaker, now glows along both sides of the hull, becoming an iconic addition to Toledo’s nighttime skyline. The official lighting was held during the “Legacy in Lights: The Schoonmaker Shines” celebration. The lighting project was funded thanks to The Admiral Society, the museum’s leadership-level membership group. Originally launched in 1911 and now serving as a museum vessel, the Schoonmaker stands as one of the most recognizable pieces of Great Lakes maritime history.
