The Woodmore Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome its third class on Aug. 21 when the seven newest members are recognized prior to the season-opening football game against New London. The group will be recognized as part of the stadium dedication ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

The 2026 high school football season gets underway this Friday for the nine area teams within The Press coverage area. All games begin at 7 p.m.

The Gibsonburg football team had a lot of success last year in its first season under the direction of head coach Shane Dyer, finishing 8-4 overall and 5-2 in SBC play before winning a playoff game and advancing to the regional quarterfinal.

The Lake football team will once again feature one of the area’s top running backs in Julian Rodriguez, who looks to guide the Flyers to a state playoff berth behind a veteran offensive line.

After several large senior classes, the Oak Harbor football team will be young this year, but 19th-year head coach Mike May is excited to see what those guys can do with the opportunity.
