Stable finances, lower crime rate, and further development of The Enclave, were among the highlights of the recent State of the City report by Northwood Mayor Ed Schimmel.
Northwood City Administrator Bob Anderson is retiring. Anderson, 73, has been in the position for 10 years.
City council voted to hire Anderson in September, 2012. He replaced Dennis Recker, who had resigned.

Northwood two weeks ago issued a cease and desist order to the owner of a house being used as an Airbnb, a service that lets property owners rent out their spaces to travelers looking for a place to stay.

Northwood Police Captain Jeffery Zahradnik has been named the new Chief of Police for the Northwood Police Department..
He replaces former Chief Thomas S. Cairl, who retired in July. Zahradnik has been serving as acting chief of police since then.
The City of Northwood is seeking funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to help pay for proposed safety improvements on the Woodville Road corridor, from Norcross Drive southeastward to Williston Road (St. Rte. 579).
Northwood residents are being asked by the city to fill out a survey on its website on what programs and activities they would like to see in the new community center that will be constructed at the site of the former Woodville Mall.
