The second weekly roundup for volleyball includes all matches played Aug. 24-30.
Clay (2-5) dropped a trio of tough matches to Anthony Wayne (23-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18), Archbishop Hoban (25-13, 18-25, 25-14) and Avon (25-10, 25-21) during the week.
Eme Goetz had another big week with 31 kills and seven digs against the Generals. Leah Hazuda had a team-best 30 assists and nine digs, along with four kills. Adleigh Derr added seven digs and six assists. Stats were not submitted for the other two matches.
Eastwood (1-4) opened its week with a tough five-set loss to Northview (23-25, 21-25, 25-20, 28-26, 15-11) before sweeping Liberty-Benton (25-12, 25-23, 25-10) and falling to Patrick Henry (27-25, 25-12, 29-31, 26-24).
Mack Miller led the Eagles with 28 kills, 17 digs and three aces against Northview. Vanessa Evans (7) and Jaedyn Richards (6) combined to add 13 terminations. Olivia Riter had 38 assists and four aces. Macey White had 20 digs and three aces. Stella Chlebowski added 11 digs, and Richards led the team with five blocks.
Riter added 31 assists and seven digs against Liberty-Benton, while White produced a team-best 12 digs. Miller had 19 kills, five digs and three aces. Maya Schmeltz (8), Richards (6) and Evans (5) combined for 19 kills. Addyson Leppelmeier, Chlebowski and White had two aces apiece.
The outing against Patrick Henry witnessed 29 kills and 21 digs from Miller. White added 37 digs, while Riter (14) and Lyla Meter (12) combined for 26. Riter led the way in assists with 38, and White chipped in nine. Richards had three blocks, and Evans had five aces. Both of those two added seven kills, as well.
Genoa (3-0) won both of its matches over Delta (25-12, 25-10, 25-19) and Elmwood (25-21, 25-22, 26-24).
Makenna Moritz led the Comets offense with 12 kills, 10 assists, seven digs and three aces against Delta. Riley Sinift (7) and Lucy Schlageter (5) added 12 combined kills, while Sinift (10) and Schlageter (7) also chipped in 17 digs. Schlageter led the team with 14 assists. Cecilia Munoz had the team’s lone two blocks.
Sinift (12) and Moritz (10) combined for 22 kills to lead the offense against Elmwood. Schlageter and Vivian Clement added five terminations apiece. Clement, Schlageter and Mya Rethman had two aces each, and Clement stuffed six shots. Sinift finished her double-double with 12 digs, while Rethman added 12 and Makayla Zaciewski finished with nine. Moritz also had a double-double including her 13 assists, and Schlageter totaled 12.
Gibsonburg (3-1) produced a pair of victories over Woodmore (25-10, 25-18, 25-9) and Lakota (25-19, 25-18, 25-18).
Riley Gressman (10) and Ava Dawson (9) combined for 19 kills to lead the offense against Woodmore. Gressman added four aces, while Mackenzie Muntz chipped in five kills and a pair of blocks. Katie Hall dished out 29 assists, and Zoe Halbeisen added seven terminations and a pair of aces.
Dawson (11), Halbeisen (10), Muntz (10) and Gressman (9) combined for 40 terminations to lead a balanced offense against Lakota. Hall dished out 34 assists, and Mia Brink had a team-best three digs. Gressman and Halbeisen had four aces apiece.
Lake (3-0) won a non-conference battle over Northview (25-22, 25-23, 25-19) in its lone match of the week. Lucy Boos recorded 25 assists and a pair of blocks, while Kortny Rollins and Laynie Meadows also had two stuffs each. Emerson Wineland and Calli Conley joined Boos with two aces apiece. Kennedy Falkenberg (10), Mylah Vorst (8) and Meadows (6) combined for 24 terminations to lead the offense.
Northwood (1-2) dropped a pair of matches to Fremont SJCC (25-21, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15) and Danbury (23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-19).
Averey Perlaky and Olivia Eischen each had six kills, while the trio of Camryn Haas, Marissa Gutekunst and Kayla Schlegel had four apiece against SJCC. Hayden Mathena also added three. Gutekunst added four aces, and Ella Partin had 32 digs and four aces. Eischen led the team with 18 assists.
Gutekunst and Eischen had nine terminations each against Danbury. Eischen contributed five aces, as well, and Gutekunst had three blocks. Defensively, the Rangers got 31 digs from Partin and 20 assists from Haas.
Oak Harbor (3-3) went 3-1 during the week, defeating Toledo Christian (18-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-11), Port Clinton (25-21, 25-14, 25-9) and Clyde (19-25, 25-10, 25-21) mixed in with a loss to Sandusky Perkins (24-26, 25-21, 17-25, 25-11, 20-18).
Myley Sandwisch (26) and Morgan Lalonde (10) each had double-digit kills against Toledo Christian, where Lalonde (18), Payne Lohman (16), Tenylee Gordon (14), Bella Rios (14) and Sandwisch (10) recorded double-digit digs. Rios contributed a team-best 45 assists. Stats weren’t submitted for the other three matches.
Woodmore (0-3) dropped a pair of matches to Gibsonburg (25-10, 25-18, 25-9) and Margaretta (25-7, 25-14, 25-11). Stats weren’t submitted.
Waite (1-2) fell to Toledo Christian (25-3, 25-7, 25-7) in its lone match of the week. Stats weren’t submitted.
