The Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day by opening its doors on Monday, Jan. 19, and hosting a daylong celebration titled “Strength in Unity.”
Typically closed on Mondays, TMA will open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to honor King’s legacy through community, reflection, and the collective power of coming together.
The day’s schedule of events is designed to offer visitors the opportunity to connect with their community and celebrate history.

Grace Toth, the Emma Leah Bippus Director of Education at TMA, emphasized TMA’s ongoing commitment to honor Dr. King’s legacy through events like these.
“At the Toledo Museum of Art, we believe art has the power to inspire dialogue, reflection, and unity,” Toth said. “Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an important tradition for us because it celebrates Dr. King’s legacy and reinforces our shared commitment to equity and justice.
“This year’s theme, ‘Strength in Unity,’ invites our community to come together through art, conversation, performance, and family-friendly experiences. We welcome everyone to honor Dr. King’s vision through community, reflection, and the collective power of unity,” she said.
The events are free and open to the public. No registration is required, but space is limited, so community members are encouraged to arrive early.
