Student Stars: Eastwood Band bassoonist performs in OMEA All-State Orchestra

Cameron Brinker, a senior bassoonist in the Eastwood High School Band, recently performed in the 2026 Ohio Music Education Association All-State Orchestra.

Brinker was selected by audition from applicants throughout the state. The prestigious ensemble performed on Jan. 31 at the OMEA Professional Conference held in the Columbus Convention Center under the direction of Helen Cha-Pyo, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts (New Jersey).    Brinker has performed in the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra, Wright State University Honors Band, University of Toledo Honors Band, OMEA District 1 Honors Band (three years), OMEA Northwest Region Honors Orchestra (two years) and is currently in the Bowling Green State University Bassoon Ensemble, Double Reed Choir, Clarinet Choir and University Band, as well as first year music classes.

Throughout his high school career, Cameron has earned 13 Superior OMEA ratings on solo woodwind instruments at Solo & Ensemble, in addition to numerous ensembles.

At Eastwood, he is president of Tri-M Music Honor Society, reporter for FFA, in NHS, a Band Squad and Section Leader, Band Librarian, and a member of Jazz Band and Musical Pit Orchestra.

Brinker began studying bassoon and other woodwinds with Howard Williams, retired Woodmore High School Director of Bands. He is currently a student of Mikaela Kroyer of BGSU, where he plans to major in bassoon performance this fall.
