Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Development announced earlier this month nearly $11 million in allocations to support community development projects in 51 communities across the state.
Among those is a pair of projects in Sandusky County that are set to receive a combined $310,000.
The first one allocates $160,000 to renovate the senior center, which will enhance access to wellness and social activities. The county will also support the community work program, which sustains classes that provide life, work, educational, and vocational skills to 46 incarcerated individuals.
The city of Fremont, located in Sandusky County, will also receive $150,000 to renovate its senior center, which will benefit approximately 1,000 seniors. The city will also use funds within the grant to replace windows at the Pontifex Center, which is a local homeless facility and will benefit approximately 50 people.
