Judge Bruce Winters of the Ottawa County Common Pleas Court appointed Michael Rohde as a commissioner representing the Veterans of Foreign Wars on the Ottawa County Veterans Service Commission during an official swearing in ceremony on Jan. 9.
Rohde began as a member-at-large in December 2020 and, due to a vacancy in 2024, transferred to represent the VFW. Throughout his five-year tenure, he has been instrumental in approving over $300,000 in emergency financial assistance to over 276 veterans of Ottawa County, as well as their family members. As a strong advocate of the veterans, Rohde has been actively involved in the celebration of county veterans' accomplishments and in the commemoration of their sacrifices.
Rohde is an OEF/OIF veteran who served honorably in the U. S. Army.
