Oak Harbor mayor, Quinton Babcock, was appointed to the Ottawa County Board of Elections, where he will help oversee the administration of fair and secure elections.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose contacted Babcock last month to advise him of the appointment.
Babcock brings previous experience working as an election official and looks forward to applying his knowledge in this new role.
"I'm honored to join the board of elections and to maintain the integrity of our democratic process," Babcock said. "Having worked in elections, I know the dedication of our local election officials, and it will be great to put my elections hat back on to support them."
Babcock was sworn in on Feb. 28 by John Klaehn, Ottawa County Clerk of Courts, and will work with the board to oversee upcoming elections, implement state election laws, and ensure transparency in the election process.
"In all my work, I believe in creating transparency and engaging in proactive communication," Babcock said. "I look forward to bringing that same approach as a board member at the Board of Elections."
