Below is a listing of results and stats from the fifth week of the girls volleyball season. This is for matches played through Sept. 14. Information is gathered via MaxPreps, coach email submissions and team social media accounts. A lack of individual stats listed means none of those sources provided that information.
The Eastwood volleyball team had a busy week, producing straight-set wins over Maumee, Fostoria, and Bowling Green after falling to Ottawa-Glandorf.
In the week’s opener against O-G, Mack Miller (9) and Ivy Schrader (8) combined for 17 kills. Macey White and Addyson Leppelmeier (2) had five aces, and the duo of Miller and Braily Moenter had two blocks each. White (17) and Schrader (10) had double-digit digs, and Riter produced 19 assists and eight digs.
Miller exploded for 21 terminations against Maumee, while adding five digs. White (5) and Riter (4) had nine of the team’s 15 aces. Schrader (13), White (10), and Riter (8) led in digs, while Riter dished out 25 assists.
Miller (17) and Schrader (14) combined for 31 kills against Fostoria, while White (4), Riter (4), Miller (3) and Schrader (2) tallied 13 of Eastwood’s 15 aces. Miller led the Eagles with two blocks. White (11) and Schrader (9) totaled 20 digs, and Riter had 31 assists.
Miller (14) and Schrader (11) had 25 terminations against Bowling Green, while Eastwood’s stout net defense produced six blocks from Moenter, four from Maya Schmeltz and Miller, and three from Vanessa Evans. White (15), Miller (12), Schrader (11), and Riter (7) led in digs, and Riter produced 37 assists.
The Eagles (9-2, 6-0 NBC) are slated to face Otsego on Tuesday and Genoa on Thursday – both on the road.
The Lake volleyball team picked up a pair of straight-set wins over Otsego and Oak Harbor last week.
Against Otsego, Mylah Vorst (12) and Harlow Haberland (10) combined for 22 kills. Calli Conley had two aces. Vorst (4), Caity Extine (2), and Kennedy Falkenberg (2) had at least two blocks each. Conley (14) and Boos (13) combined for 27 digs, while Savanna Saunders and Laynie Meadows had nine each. Saunders also led the team in assists with 20, while Boos chipped in 14.
Vorst (9) and Falkenberg (8) led Lake in terminations against Oak Harbor. Conley had three aces, while Vorst had nine blocks. Meadows (13) and Conley (11) had double-digit digs, while Boos (11) and Saunders (9) produced 20 assists.
The Flyers (9-2, 5-1 NBC) are slated to face Rossford on Tuesday and Fostoria on Thursday.
The Genoa volleyball team went 1-3 last week, knocking off Rossford in four sets, while losing to Margaretta, Oak Harbor, and Swanton.
Against Margaretta, Makenna Moritz (18) and Riley Sinift (10) had double-digit kills and four blocks apiece. Charli Magnone (21), Lucy Schlageter (15), Moritz (14), Mya Colvin (12), and Mya Rethman (11) had 10+ digs. Schlageter (21) and Moritz (10) combined for 31 assists.
Moritz led the way with 10 kills against Genoa, while Schlageter and Sinift had five each. Vivian Clement stuffed three attacks, while Magnone (9), Schlageter (8), and Moritz (8) had at least eight digs. Moritz (11) and Schlageter (8) had 19 assists.
Moritz led the Comets with 18 kills against Rossford, although Schlageter and Sinift had nine each, as well. Schlageter had a team-best four aces. Clement and Sinift recorded three blocks apiece. Magnone (23), Schlageter (13), and Rethman (8) led in digs, while the duo of Schlageter (17) and Moritz (14) had 31 helpers.
Stats were not available for the Swanton match.
The Comets (4-7, 1-5 NBC) will face Fostoria on Tuesday and Eastwood on Thursday.
In their lone match of the week, the Clay volleyball team dropped Ross in straight sets behind 16 kills from Eme Goetz and 12 more from Maddie Franke. Goetz also added a team-best six aces, while Leah Hazuda (5), Franke (4), and Audrey Vriezelaar (3) totaled 12 blocks. Hayden Rodriguez (8), Franke (6), and Hazuda (6) had at least six digs each, while Rodriguez produced 31 assists.
The Eagles (7-3, 6-1 NLL) are slated to face BGHS on Tuesday, Southview on Thursday and Jackson on Saturday.
The Oak Harbor volleyball team went 3-1 last week with straight-set wins over Woodmore, Genoa, and Gibsonburg while also falling to Lake.
Against Genoa, Tatum Baumgartner (14), Alayna Hall (10), and Myley Sandwisch (10) combined for 34 kills. Sandwisch added three blocks, two aces, 11 digs, and 17 assists. Ava Lynch also had two aces along with 20 digs and five assists. Baumgartner finished off a double-double with 11 digs, while Bella Rios had 13 assists.
Baumgartner (9) and Sandwisch (7) led the Rockets against Woodmore, while Rios (5), Sandwisch (4), and Baumgartner (4) combined for 13 aces. Lynch produced 17 digs, while Sandwisch (14) and Rios (10) combined for 24 assists.
Baumgartner had a team-best 10 terminations against Lake, although Hall nearly matched her with nine. Maddie Schiets had the team’s lone two blocks. Lynch (16), Baumgartner (9), and Rios (8) combined for 33 digs. Sandwisch had 11 assists, and Rios chipped in eight.
Stats weren’t available for the Gibsonburg match.
The Rockets (11-3, 4-2 NBC) are slated to face Maumee on Tuesday and Otsego on Thursday.
The Gibsonburg volleyball team dropped a pair of straight-set matches to No. 1 state –ranked Calvert and SJCC last week.
Leah Hall led her team against Calvert with six kills and one ace. Riley Gressman added four kills. Katie Hall contributed five assists and an ace. Emily Henderson had the team’s third and final ace.
Hall had seven kills, two aces, and one block against SJCC. Gressman added five kills, two blocks, and one ace. Brooklyn Smith (12) and Katie Hall (10) combined for 22 assists, while Ava Dawson tied Leah Hall for the team-high in terminations.
The Golden Bears are slated to face Danbury on Tuesday, St. Mary Central Catholic on Thursday, and North Baltimore on Saturday.
In their lone match of the week, the Cardinal Stritch volleyball team fell to Old Fort in straight sets. Gabby Cathers (9), Olivia Ford (5), and Jasmine Peek (4) combined for 18 kills, while Carlie White (3) and Ford (2) had five blocks. Ryley Rodriguez (10), Peek (9), and Morgan Kennedy (7) totaled 26 digs, and Hayden Mathena had 16 assists.
The Cardinals (6-3, 1-1 TAAC) are slated to host Toledo Christian on Tuesday and Emmanuel Christian on Thursday before traveling to Gibsonburg on Saturday.
The Woodmore volleyball team went 1-2 last week with a win over St. Mary Central Catholic, which followed losses to Oak Harbor and Old Fort.
Against Oak Harbor, Lacey Lipstraw (6) and Ariana Florio (5) combined for 11 kills. Emily Lang and Olivia Schreck had the team’s two blocks. Florio (14) and Vida Guillen (8) had 22 digs. Guillen added 11 assists.
Lipstraw and Florio had five kills apiece against Old Fort. Guillen had two aces, and Florio led the Wildcats with two blocks. Emma Watson (9) and Florio (8) totaled 17 digs, and Guillen had nine assists.
Stats weren’t available for the St. Mary Central Catholic match.
The Wildcats (3-8, 3-4) are slated to face Northwood on Tuesday and Danbury on Thursday.
The Northwood volleyball team went 1-3 last week, toppling Rogers in straight sets after falling to Rossford, Hopewell-Loudon, and Danbury. Stats were not reported. The Rangers (3-8, 1-7) are back in action against Woodmore on Tuesday and SJCC on Thursday.
The Waite volleyball team (2-8, 0-3) dropped a straight-set match to Delta last week. Stats were not reported. They are slated to face Port Clinton on Tuesday.
