Pemberville to celebrate autumn at annual Harvest Gathering

Enjoy a family-friendly fall festivities Saturday, Oct. 25, as Pemberville hosts its annual Harvest Gathering. The festivities will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the village’s downtown.

During the autumn celebration, the Pemberville-Independent Merchants Association will host the annual Artisan Craft Show & Gift Boutique. Bethlehem Lutheran will feature an array of artisans/crafters on two levels, with artisans showcasing wide array of wood crafts, jewelry, paper florals, fabric art, baked goods, textile goods, metal works and more.

Beeker’s General Store will host its Maker’s Market next to the store at 222 E. Front St., featuring artisans from Northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Patrons can peruse framed jewelry art, quilts, wood cut ornaments, metal creations, hand woven baskets and goods, handmade chocolates, felted wool and other items.

Both venues open at 9 a.m.

Other highlights include:

  • Riverbank Antiques, located in the heart of downtown, will showcase three levels of unique antiques and collectibles along with its Antique Alley (outside, weather permitting).
  • Guests are invited to explore Pemberville’s Front Street – home to Country Cupboard, The Comfy Cactus, Beeker’s, Riverbank Antiques, and The Country Cupboard Closeout Collection.
  • Three of Pemberville’s historic landmarks will be open for free tours. The village’s Pemberville’s oldest frame house, The Pember-Furry House, will be open, with greeters sharing tidbits of history. The One Room School will also be open for some “reading and writing.”

The smells of the Old Smokehouse will prevail with “sausage on a stick” being sold by the Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society. The ringing of the blacksmith’s anvil will be heard as well, as the resident artisan creates heirloom keepsakes.

  • Pemberville’s restored Opera House, located at 115 Main St., will also be open.
  • Festivalgoers who come hungry will find a number of choices including Poppin’ George’s Kettle Corn and Country Grains’ Sin-O-Man bread. Beeker’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream will feature Toft’s pumpkin ice cream and “Brown Betty” apple cobbler à la mode. The Gathering Place, located next to Beeker’s, will feature homemade cabbage rolls and snipple bean soup (a German tradition) along with other soups, sandwiches and other offerings.

Front St. Café, located in the heart of downtown, will feature an array of their fan favorites. The Historical Society will offer homemade pie by the slice along with other baked goods. A number of food trucks are slated to be part of the festivities.

  • Otterbein Senior Life - Pemberville will once again offer a complimentary shuttle service. Shuttle pickup will be offered at designated locations along the festival route.
