Faith United Methodist Church, 111 Main St., Luckey, will host a special worship service with retiring Pastor Peter Johnston delivering his final sermon at the church, on Sunday, June 22.
The service will begin at 9:30 a.m. (special prelude music will begin at 9:15 a.m.). The community is welcome. Light refreshments will be served after the service.
Pastor Johnston has served the communities of Luckey and Pemberville for more than 26 years. Having moved to the area in 1998, he had previously served at several locations before coming to this area.
Pastor Johnston currently serves as chaplain at Otterbein Pemberville–Senior Living Community – a role in which he will continue.
Faith United Methodist Church has served the Luckey area and surrounding communities for past 143 years. Located in the heart of Luckey, it offers and has participated in a number of outreach programs including Luckey Vacation Bible School, Faithful Quilters, Adult Sunday School, Faithful Workers-Public Dinners, Luckey Community Food Pantry, Tyrand Ministry Mission Trips, awarding annual student scholarships, Otterbein Pemberville support and supporting both local and global mission/outreach programs.
Community members are also invited to an Afternoon Retirement Open House that same day (June 22) from 1-3 p.m., to honor Pastor and Mariko Johnston for their years of service. Special music and remarks will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The afternoon will include refreshments and fellowship.
