Patrick Huntermark, who has served on Northwood’s city council since 2017 and was just re-elected earlier this month, was arrested early Sunday morning, Nov. 9, on one count of domestic violence for knowingly causing or attempting to cause physical harm to a family or household member.
Huntermark was booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center early Sunday morning. On Monday, Nov. 10, a temporary protection order was granted, and pre-trial is slated for Friday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. His bond was set at $50,000.
Police initially learned of the incident after being tipped off by a worker at the KFC located at 2224 Woodville Rd. The witness said they saw Huntermark punch the victim in the face multiple times in the parking lot while the victim stood on the running board of the passenger side of the truck they had been in.
After being told the police were being called, Huntermark then got into the vehicle with the victim and fled the scene, per the police report, as he squealed the tires and ran through a red light at the intersection of Woodville and Reswick, continuing toward Northwood. The witness was able to get the license plate number.
Northwood police, with an address based on the license plate number, then arrived at Huntermark’s home, where he said he and the victim had been at a bar in downtown Toledo and had been drinking. They argued on the way home. He stated that the victim bit him on his right arm, and that he punched the victim in order to have the victim let go.
The victim, after being located at Meijer, said Huntermark made three strikes, and that he made contact first. Police noticed the victim’s right and left eyes both beginning to bruise.
Huntermark was then arrested at his home without incident.
