The Clay boys golf team won the Northern Lakes League Cardinal Division Championship on Sept. 17 at Eagles Landing Golf Course in Oregon, becoming the program’s first team since 1993 to capture a league title.

The Eagles, who won all five of the league tournaments during regular season play, shot a 330 as a team at the NLL Championship to beat Southview by four strokes. Darin Fussell led Clay with a 78, while Elijah Shimman (80) and Alex Goetz (83) weren’t far behind. Other scores for Clay included Ty Franke (89), Maddox Byers (89), and Grant Vriezelaar (98).

For Fussell, he finished in a tie for the lowest score overall in the event with Napoleon’s Cohen Ford. They each edged out Bowling Green’s Mason Greggor, who had a 79.
