Howl-O Woof set for Oct. 25
The 3-Legged Dog at 116 Madison Street in Port Clinton is hosting a Howl-O Woof bash on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. as a benefit for the Humane Society of Ottawa County. The event is co-sponsored by Port Clinton Candy Company, Beer Thirty’s, and Fido and Felix.
Visitors can take their dogs trick-or-treating through downtown Port Clinton’s business district from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A dog costume contest will be held, as well, with a $5 entry fee to benefit the humane society. The winner will be announced at the 3-Legged Dog at 4 p.m., and there will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing.
Anyone wanting to donate items can visit the Humane Society of Ottawa County website at HumaneSocietyOfOttawaCounty.org for a list of needed items at the shelter. Items can be dropped off at any of the sponsors’ business locations.
Second Northwood candidate forum set
Northwood Neighborhood Block Watch will present a Candidate Forum Monday, Oct. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Northwood Community Center.
Attendees are invited to meet City of Northwood candidates.

Cancer Get-Together
The next Magruder Cancer Get-Together will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. in the Magruder Conference Center, 615 Fulton St.
These free get-togethers are for anyone who has been impacted by cancer, including patients, caregivers, and family members. One does not have to be a patient of Magruder Oncology to attend.
The topic for October will be the “Ins and Outs of Insurance,” with Magruder patient financial counselors and Rachel Fall.

P.E.R.I. #93 meeting
P.E.R.I. Chapter #93, Lucas County, will meet Thursday, Oct. 23, from 1-2:15 p.m. at The Hungarian Club of Toledo, 224 Paine Avenue, Toledo. Extra parking is available across the street at the Birmingham Library. Attendees should use the farthest parking spots from the library entrance.
Bring questions regarding O.P.E.R.S. benefits and Medicare denials. All P.E.R.I. members, pre-O.P.E.R.S and O.P.E.R.S. retirees of Lucas County and other communities close to Lucas County are welcome.
