Learn, engage at LivelyU Lifelong Learning Academy courses

The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA), in partnership with the Bowling Green State University Optimal Aging Institute, is once again presenting The LivelyU Lifelong Learning Academy.

Academy courses focus on education, engagement and life enrichment and are facilitated by volunteer instructors with a passion for their chosen subjects. Courses are intended to be enjoyable, stimulating, learning for the joy of learning and offer opportunities for social engagement for all registrants.

The Spring Semester will run from March through to May and will include the following courses and presenters:        

  • “What Shapes Our Vote?” by Robert Alexander.
  • “Service in Modern Age,” by Anthony Kopps.
  • “How Poems Work,” by Geoff Howes.
  • “Art Tells Stories,” by Sharon Hanna.
  • “Finding Your Balance: by Jamie O’Brien and Dr. Tawiona Brown.
  • “Foundations, Freedoms, & The Future,” by Judge Matt Reger.
  • “Calculus + You,’ by George Carver.
  • “Riker Farming Behind the Scenes,” by Logan and Nolan Riker.
  • “Taste of Kenyan Cooking Class,” by Tom Otieno.
  • “Judicial Ethics (Offsite),” by Judge Joel Kuhlman.
  • “Baseball: More Than Just a Game,” by David Horger.
  • “Opera Behind the Scenes,” by Chris and Ellen Scholl.
  • “Data, Decisions & The Pirates,” by Kara Godsey.
  • “Behind the Scenes of the TV Series ‘The Chosen,’” by Duane and Toni Cary.
  • “Fashion Through the Decades,” by Elizabeth Johnson.
  • “The Bible – What? and Why?” by Pastor Derrick Torrey.
  • Clean Water Matters,” by Marj Mulcachy.
  • “Gallery Group,” by Michael Coomes and Sally Dreier, Toledo Museum of Arts docents.
  • Wild Weather,” by Ryan Wichman.

 To take part in LivelyU courses, a semester tuition fee of $20 is required, which will provide access to all courses. Registrants need to sign up for all of the courses they are interested in by scanning the QR code available on the WCCOA website at www.wccoa.net or at any Wood County Senior Center.
