Dr. Mike Omori and Dale Omori were recently named 2026 Lake Local Schools Distinguished Alumni Award winners.
The brothers were honored at the Lake High School Honors Banquet held March 11.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards program is designed to acknowledge and pay tribute to remarkable achievements and outstanding accomplishments of Lake High School graduates who have made a mark in their respective fields.
Nominees are selected by an awards committee comprised of two board of education members, two community members selected by the board of education and two administrators.

Dr. Mike Omori is a member of the Lake High School class of 1973. While at Lake, he played football and was a member of the wrestling team, where he earned honors as Northern Lakes League Champion (98 pounds, 1971). He also served on Student Council and Interclub Council and participated in FBLA, Key Club and Varsity Club. A National Merit Scholarship recipient, he was salutatorian of his graduating class.
He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer and Information Science (with honors) at The Ohio State University and a Doctor of Medicine at Medical College of Ohio, and completed an emergency medicine residency at St. Vincent Hospital/Toledo Hospital.
Dr. Omori’s professional distinctions include Diplomate, American Board of Emergency Medicine; Fellow, American Board of Emergency Medicine; co-author of numerous emergency and wilderness medicine publications and lecturer/author – Ohio ACEP Emergency Medicine Board Review Courses.
His professional career included working in various capacities as a physician, professor, medical director and additional positions in Pittsburgh, Toledo, and other locations. In addition, Dr. Omori served as senior medical officer at Timaru Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine, Timaru, New Zealand (2019–2021; 2024–2025) and as assistant/co-director – Medical Wilderness Adventure Race (2002–2019).
Dale Omori graduated in 1978 from Lake High School, where he lettered in football and baseball and was Northern Lakes League Champion wrestler (126 pounds, 1977). He was voted “Most Artistic” in his senior year, with Janie Leatherman.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in photojournalism from Bowling Green State University, where he was awarded Best Student Portfolio honors from the Ohio News Photographers Association.
Over the years, he has pursued a distinguished career in journalism, film, and media.
Highlights include serving as a staff photographer at the Kettering-Oakwood Times, The Cincinnati Post and for 23 years at The Plain Dealer. His assignments included covering the Super Bowl and the World Series and stints in the Middle East and Africa.
His work was recognized nationally and internationally and he was twice named Ohio News Photographer of the Year by the Ohio News Photographers Association.
His film and media career saw him serve as a producer and director for Adcom in Cleveland. He is the founder of Omori Media LLC, where he served such clients as Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. He also worked broadcast on Cleveland Public Television, and is a founding member of Burning River Films, which has screened award-winning films at the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival.
He is active in community service endeavors, having don pro bono work for organizations supporting the elderly and individuals with mental illness.
