Imagination Station, Arclin to present Manufacturing Week

Posted

Imagination Station is partnering with Arclin for Manufacturing Week, March 18-22 at the science center, located at 1 Discovery Way, Toledo.

Arclin, a leading materials science company, announced its partnership with Imagination Station to inspire and educate the community about the manufacturing industry and STEM concepts. This collaboration aims to engage students and families in hands-on learning experiences that highlight the critical role of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in modern manufacturing.

“Our company is committed to providing students with the resources to spark curiosity and build a foundational understanding of STEM concepts,” said Jamie Worrell, plant manager at Arclin. “Manufacturing is constantly evolving, with advancements in automation, materials science and sustainable production methods. By the time these students enter the workforce, many of the jobs in these fields will be in technologies and industries that haven’t even been invented yet.”

During Manufacturing Week, visitors will explore this field through various hands-on activities that will strengthen their understanding of the field and allow them the opportunity to engage with creating their own “garden in a glove” through an assembly-line experience.

The highlight of the week will take place on Friday, March 21, when Arclin will host interactive activity stations, giving kids a hands-on look at the world of chemical manufacturing and engineering. Visitors will dive into the fundamentals of chemistry through engaging acid-base experiments—demonstrating the core chemical processes that drive Arclin’s work every day in creating innovative materials.

“We wanted to develop experiments that connect back to our manufacturing process while showing students that science is all around us,” said Worrell. “We focus on using everyday materials—many of which can be found right in their pantry. For example, students will explore how acids and bases interact by creating mini volcanoes, writing secret messages with invisible ink, and painting with different pH levels to see chemistry in action.”

This event aims to not only provide an engaging way for students to explore STEM concepts but also to highlight the diverse career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry—an essential part of Toledo’s economy. By sparking curiosity and introducing young minds to the science behind manufacturing, Arclin hopes to inspire the next generation of innovators who will shape the future of the industry.
