Helping Hands of St. Louis to serve dine-in Easter dinner April 15

Posted

Helping Hands of St. Louis , 443 Sixth St., Toledo, will serve a free, traditional  Easter dinner Tuesday, April 15, between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Helping Hands of St. Louis, is located at 443 Sixth St., Toledo.

“St. John XXIII volunteers will help prepare and serve hundreds of ham dinners with all the fixings—scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, yams, dinner roll, salad bar, a beverage, and a variety of desserts,” said Sue Shrewsbery, Helping Hands director. “Chef David is preparing for 300 guests, given the number of people now coming to us for meals.”

Approximately 30% more meals will be served this year in comparison to last year. Also, Helping Hands of St. Louis has served more meals the first eight months of this fiscal year than both the entire FY22 and FY23 years.

Helping Hands has offered 129% more homeless kits in comparison to last fiscal year to date; more than double the number given out the entire FY22 and 56% more than entire FY23.

Helping Hands’ Clothing Center has also seen an increase of 16% in guests served in comparison to last year.

Given these increases, Helping Hands of St. Louis needs financial support and in-kind donations  to help meet the food needs of individuals coming to us for help. Online donations can be made at  https://catholiccharitiesnwo.org.

“Many thanks to area churches and organizations for regularly holding food drives for our choice Food Pantry,” Shrewsbery added. “Your donations are greatly appreciated!”

Homeless meal kits can be assembled by families, businesses, churches, schools and service groups and dropped off at Helping Hands of St. Louis; a list of items to include can be found online at https://catholiccharitiesnwo.org/what-we-do/feeding-the-hungry/
