Posted

The National Museum of the Great Lakes is expanding its Wellness by the Boat offerings with StrongHER by the River – Outdoor Midlife Movement Class presented in partnership with KickSpark WholeBody Wellness.

Geared toward for women approaching, in, or post menopause, StrongHER by the River blends functional fitness and resistance training in a supportive, judgment-free environment.

The biweekly Saturday series will meet Aug. 16 and 30, and Sept. 13 and 27 from 10-11 a.m. in the museum’s Cliffs Great Lakes Maritime Park.

Each class is $12. Advance registration is required at nmgl.org/events. Since the class will be held outdoors, registrants will be notified of any weather-related updates.

Participants will use loop resistance bands and Pilates balls (provided) to build strength without joint strain, support metabolism and hormone balance, boost energy and confidence and improve mobility. Attendees should bring a yoga mat and water bottle.

“StrongHER by the River invites our community to recharge on the waterfront while caring for their bodies and minds,” said Ashley Streichert Lovejoy, NMGL marketing and communications manager. “It’s a natural extension of our Wellness by the Boat series—bringing people to the river to feel better.”

“Midlife doesn’t have to mean slowing down,” said Sherri Sherock, founder of KickSpark WholeBody Wellness. “With the right approach, women can feel strong, balanced and energized.”

NMGL is located at 1701 Front St., Toledo.
