Following a special session held April 2 the Terra State Community College Board of Trustees announced a transition in executive leadership and the formalization of a comprehensive fiscal recovery plan.
Effective April 2, the board accepted the resignation of Dr. Ronald Schumacher. To ensure continuity of operations and institutional stability, the board appointed Dr. Cory Stine to serve as interim president.
Stine assumes this role as the college enters a period of rigorous financial evaluation. The board expressed confidence in Dr. Stine’s ability to lead the institution through the necessary steps to restore fiscal health.
Fiscal watch and remediation plan
The Ohio Department of Higher Education has officially placed Terra State in fiscal watch status. This designation follows a recommendation issued by the Ohio Auditor of State on March 17. Chancellor Mike Duffey formally notified the college of the status change on March 23.

Terra State remains fully open and operational. Students, faculty, and staff should expect no disruption to academic schedules, campus services, or the daily operations of the college.
Senior Summe Social
A Senior Summer Social will be held Monday, June 1, at lake High School, 28080 Lemoyne Rd.
The event will feature a complimentary luncheon and an afternoon of conversation, community and connection.

Eastwood All-Class Reunion
Eastwood’s Alumni Association (EAA) reunion committee has announced an All-Class Reunion Celebration will be held the evening of Saturday, Sept. 19, in the Eastwood High School gym, 4700 Sugar Ridge Rd., Pemberville.
All alumni from Eastwood classes 1959-2026 and alumni from Pemberville, Troy-Luckey and Webster graduation classes are invited.
The gathering will offer the opportunity for alumni to connect and reminisce. Grazing stations and beverages will be provided.

Clay’s Joe Kiss to receive Horizon Award
Clay High School Athletic Director Joe Kiss was selected as a recipient of the Northwest Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Horizon Award.
The award is presented each year to an active athletic administrator who is in the first two-to-three years of service at his/her school, has demonstrated clear signs of professionalism and involvement, and has made a difference at school, and/or within his/her conference.
Kiss will receive his award at the 2026 NW-OIAAA awards ceremony, in conjunction with the OHSAA Athletic Discussion meeting, on Tuesday, April 28, at Camden Falls Reception & Conference Center in Tiffin.
Penta students plan Annual Plant Sale
Students in Penta Career Center’s Horticulture - Floral & Greenhouse Services Program will conduct a plant sale Tuesday, May 5 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Enter at the west end of the greenhouse, and park in the bus lot. Members of the community are invited to come support the students’ work and take home something they’ve grown.
TNT Mentor Program inviting volunteers
Area residents are invited to hep play a role in local students’ success by volunteering for the TNT Mentoring Program.
TNT serves youths in Benton-Carroll-Salem, Genoa, Woodmore, Port Clinton, Danbury and Put-in-Bay Schools.
The program is looking for caring adults to serve as positive role models who will provide mentees with help navigating through many situations.
