The Genoa wrestling team finished in third place at Napoleon’s Gold Medal Duals on Friday and Saturday, which followed a 42-28 victory over Elmwood on Wednesday at home inside the Impact Zone.
The Comets scored the third-place finish via a tiebreaker over the weekend after getting undefeated performances from Ethan Powell, Scotty Fuller, Tyler Abbey, and Luke Clement.
That group all finished 9-0, while Mikey Soto (8-1) and Evan Millner (7-1) also had strong performances. Georgi Ichkiti added a 6-3 finish, while Isaac Soto, Marcos Mata, and Ethan Sizemore produced five wins each.
On Wednesday, Genoa took down Elmwood behind victories from Kyra Frasure and Lincoln Schlageter, as well as pins for Soto, Abbey, Clement, Ichkiti, and Eli Smith-Draper.
Fuller, Christian Stokes, Soto, Clement, and Millner - all seniors - were honored for their leadership on Wednesday, while Fuller’s state championship singlet banner from last year was christened inside the gymnasium.
With the week’s performance, Genoa is 15-2 in dual events this year.
