Fatal incident at Ottawa County, some boil advisories lifted

Ottawa County officials reported Monday that an employee was fatally injured at the Ottawa County Regional Water Treatment Plant.

Due to this, and in coordination with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), boil advisories were issues in several areas, including: the village of Elmore, the village of Oak Harbor, the city of Port Clinton, the village of Marblehead, Catawba Island Township, Danbury Township, Portage Township, Erie Township, Salem Township, Bay Township and Harris Township.

As of noon on Wednesday, several of those boil advisories have been lifted, and an updated map is attached to this story.

Bottled water available in Ottawa County

Free bottled water does remain for affected citizens in Ottawa County as of Wednesday, June 25. 

The Chapel - Port Clinton campus at 4650 E. Port Clinton Eastern Road in Port Clinton is where residents can visit for the water from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Water is available while it lasts.
