City of Oregon issues two construction notices

Posted

The city of Oregon has issued two construction notices as part of its Roadway Improvement Program.

The first, which involved the awarding of a construction contract to Crestline Paving & Excavating Co., Inc. out of Toledo, will encompass the reconstruction and repaving of Springwood Drive West between Springwood Drive South to Terminus.

The project, which is expected to begin the week of July 7, weather permitting, is expected to be “substantially completed” by Aug. 11.

The second project, which involved the awarding of a construction contract to Ebony Construction Co., Inc. of Sylvania, will encompass the reconstruction and repaving of Eastmoreland Drive North between Edward Street and Coy Road.

That project is expected to begin the week of Aug. 13, weather permitting, and is expected to be “substantially completed” by Sept. 24.

Both projects, which will include work to complete removal and replacement of the deteriorated asphalt pavement and curbing, will be completed in phases, requiring temporary closures of sections of the roadway.

Each phase will include: full pavement removal, stone base replacement, installation of pavement underdrains, replacement of curb inlets, construction of new curbs and gutters, partial replacement of driveway aprons, asphalt paving and backfill, and seeding behind curb.

During certain phases of construction, access to driveways within the work area may be temporarily interrupted. Property owners will be notified directly in advance of any scheduled driveway closures, which will be kept to a minimum. On-street parking will be prohibited throughout the project’s duration, unless otherwise directed. Vehicles obstructing construction activities may be towed at the owner’s expense.

If anyone has concerns about driveway access or requires special accommodations, contact project engineer William Midubo at 419-698-7161 or eng@oregonohio.org.

Before excavation begins, the contractor will notify the Ohio Underground Protection Agency to locate and mark underground utilities. Public utility companies will do their best to identify utility lines accurately. Residents are encouraged to notify the city of any unmarked underground features such as sprinkler systems, invisible pet fences, drainage tiles or private utilities. Note that curb replacement may impact sprinkler lines or heads located just behind the existing curbs in the public right-of-way.

For any concerns, questions or issues related to the construction projects, contact either the City of Oregon Department of Public Service at 419-698-7047 or the city’s non-emergency phone number at 419-698-7064 (option 4).
