Charles Wakefield Hosley, age 76 years old, passed away on December 2, 2025 at his home in Fletcher, North Carolina. His dear family surrounded him with love during his journey home. Charlie was thankful to travel to Ohio to attend his annual Clay High School Class of ‘68 Class Reunion Picnic in September. His service for our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War exposed him to Agent Orange which haunted his health during his later years, as it does many of his fellow veterans.

Charlie was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 28, 1949 to Charles Emmett and Dorothy Mae (Matthews) Hosley. He grew up on the family farm which was located on Cedar Point Rd in Oregon , Ohio and is now part of Maumee Bay State Park. 4-H was a big part of his life and showing livestock at the Lucas County Fair was his favorite. His lifelong friendships with Dewayne Carter (deceased), Jim Turnow, and David Bench grew throughout his years at the fair and school.

After graduating from High School, Charlie volunteered for the US Army. He served honorably from 1968-1971,

Charles married the love of his life, Shari Baker, May 7, 1971. They have 2 sons, Todd and Joey, of whom they are so proud. Being very handy, Charlie worked at many jobs where he made many friends. He had a huge skill set and was a problem solver. His infectious laugh and story telling ability endeared him to many. He loved tinkering in his workshop and lately built many unique birdhouses.

The Hosley family relocated to the Asheville, North Carolina area in 1987 after falling in love with the mountains on a camping trip. They established themselves in their new community and made many new friends. In the last few years, Charlie and Shari enjoyed their winter home in Inverness, Florida.

Charles is survived by his wife Shari and sons Todd (Jill) and Joey (Shaina), as well as 3 granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister Joyce (Gene) Dorr. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A full military funeral was held December 11, 2025 at the VA Cemetary Black Mountain N.C.

Rest in peace dear friend!
