Beeker’s General Store plans “Sampling Saturday”

Posted

In honor of the “Big Game” in February, Beeker’s General Store is pulling together its best food vendors for a taste-testing extravaganza Saturday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

“Sampling Saturday” will provide ample opportunity to try Amish edibles, Ohio-made products, local honey, homemade baked goods, and more.

Not only will guests sample a variety of items, they will also have a chance to ‘Meet the Maker’ and ask questions of chefs. Recipes incorporating Beeker’s products will also be available.

The shelves of one of Ohio’s oldest general stores will be brimming with a number of products for creating appetizers, main dishes, and sweet treats for the “Big Game” and beyond.

Local “celebrities” and residents are participating in a contest in which the general store is providing a food product that it features. Creative Community Chefs (the “3Cs”) are being asked to create a recipe with samples for taste testing. Pickup bags are available at Beeker’s, 226 E. Front St., Pemberville.

Participants should bring their finished and ready-to-serve recipes (cut into sampling size/75-100 samples) to Beeker’s by 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 24. Please provide a recipe for your creation, which should include the designated product.

Email the recipe (and any special requests) to info@beekersgeneralstore.com. Beeker’s will provide toothpicks, sampling cups, chafing dishes, and the like.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to vote for the “People’s Choice” recipe. The lucky Creative Community Chef that wins the vote will receive a $100 gift certificate to Beeker’s General Store.
