The city of Oregon is intent on creating a downtown area, and the Aspire at Oregon Town Center housing development is a big part of moving that vision forward.
On Valentine’s Day, Jennifer Kurtovic, the executive director of the Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce, along with K. Hovnanian Homes, hosted an open house on site at 3002 Nautical Lane as part of the chamber’s latest Coffee & Connections event.
“People from Oregon don't want to leave,” Anthony Asaad, a sales consultant with K. Hovnanian, said. “That's what I found. I call them lifers. They are born here, they work here, they retire here, they have their forever home here.
“And that's been the majority of people that we have is people who don't want to leave Oregon. They see other homes that might be higher-end in other cities, but they want to be here more than anything else. This is their home. So we decided to follow their lead and just do anything we can to make their home feel that much better.”
The plan is for a 36-house development, including their model home in which the open house was held. They’ve built 14 of those so far and sold two of them.
“The domino effect is just going to start to begin from here,” Asaad said. “We specialize in quick-moving homes. We do give people the option to build from scratch, but typically you get a much better deal buying one that is already built. As far as those deals go, we've really set ourselves apart by offering people a 4.75 fixed conventional 30-year interest rate.”
Kurtovic was pleased with the event’s turnout.
“I think we had a great turnout,” she said. “I was really pleased to see people from so many different areas of business come in and check out the new homes.”
It gave people an opportunity to come in and see the homes for one, and talk to the team to see what they could expect in the future
“I was happy to hear that people were excited to see the inside of the homes because a lot of people hadn't had the chance to come in and take a look yet,” Kurtovic said. “I'm glad that we were able to provide that to the community.”
The chamber’s next Coffee & Connections event will be March 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Cardinal Stritch, where the school will have the opportunity to highlight what they have going on this school year and feature any programs or events they have coming up.”
