GENOA 34, OAK HARBOR 19

The Genoa football team (5-1, 3-0 NBC) produced a big win over Oak Harbor at home in the Celestial Bowl, taking advantage of several turnovers to end a 22-game NBC winning streak for the Rockets.

The highlight of the game was potentially the game’s first score, where Genoa’s Evan Millner stripped the ball from Oak Harbor running back Travis Bouyer and ran it back for an 86-yard touchdown with 4:47 left in the opening quarter. Alex Materni added a 16-yard touchdown for the Comets just before the quarter ended, and that lead stood into the half.

Bouyer answered back with a 1-yard touchdown run with 7:26 left in the third quarter, but Ryan Routson did the exact same for Genoa with 1:53 left as the Comets took a 21-7 lead into the fourth.

Kason Marshall scored for Oak Harbor (5-1, 2-1 NBC) to open the fourth quarter, but the kick failed, and Logan Routson added a 79-yard touchdown run down the right sideline for a 28-13 lead with 7:06 left.

Blake Nickel kept Oak Harbor alive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:34 left, but the ensuing onside kick was snagged by Genoa, who added a 12-yard touchdown reception from Jaxon Magnone to complete the victory.

After losing Luke Clement to a season-ending injury the week prior, the Comets backfield got 87 yards on five carries from Logan Routson and 71 yards on seven carries from Materni. Mollenhauer went 12-of-20 for 148 yards, while Magnone caught seven passes for 99 yards to lead the receiving corps.

The Comets got 13 tackles apiece from Materni and Miller, as well as 10 from Ryan Routson. Aside from Millner’s strip fumble touchdown, Magnone and Adam Knight each added interceptions for Genoa, who were actually outgained in total yardage 390-322.

The Rockets were led offensively by Nickel, who rushed for 132 yards on 32 carries. Bouyer added 58 yards on 10 carries. Breydan Porath completed 19-of-29 passes for 182 yards, and Wyatt Augsburger had 12 receptions for 111 yards.

EASTWOOD 34, OTSEGO 21

Eastwood (5-1, 3-0 NBC) jumped out to a 14-0 lead through one quarter as the season-debut of quarterback Drew Luidhardt sparked them to a 34-21 victory over their NBC rival.

Luidhardt, who suffered a preseason injury and missed his team’s first five games, completed 18-of-22 passes for 229 yards and three touchdowns. One of those was a 36-yard strike down the left sideline to his brother, Brayden, who has shifted to wide receiver after filling in at quarterback through the season’s first five weeks.

In fact, Brayden Luidhardt intercepted two passes and caught seven balls for 137 yards. Cam Schumaker added seven receptions and 65 yards and one score, which came with no time left on the first half clock to give the Eagles a 28-7 lead.

Schumaker added 37 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Brayden Brown had 73 yards on 14 carries. Trace Johnson ran for 42 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Brayden Luidhardt led Eastwood defensively with eight tackles, while Landon Weemes added 6.5. The trio of Landen Simon, Brady Ramlow, and Edmund Opfer also added four each.

GIBSONBURG 42, TIFFIN CALVERT 6

Gibsonburg (4-2, 2-1 SBC) out-rushed Tiffin Calvert 249-35 on the way to a big win at Mayer Field.

The Golden Bears got 16 carries and 123 yards along with three touchdowns from Grant Smith. Aiden Nims added seven carries for 115 yards and a touchdown, while Reece Walby completed 2-of-3 passes for 31 yards. Both of those completions went to Aiden Morant.

Defensively, Aiden Senters and Luke Foster led Gibsonburg with seven tackles each. Hunter Wasserman added five tackles, while Keese Sanchez had four.

Smith opened the scoring with back-to-back touchdown runs in the first quarter. Foster added a 53-yard interception return for a score with 11:01 left in the half, and Smith added his third score midway through the second quarter.

Walby produced Gibsonburg’s second interception return for a touchdown with a 90-yard score with four minutes left as the Golden Bears led 36-0 at the half.

Nims sprinted 92 yards for his team’s final score with 11:26 left in the fourth before Tiffin Calvert added their lone score with less than two minutes left.

FINDLAY 35, CLAY 0

Landon Echelberry completed 24-of-40 passes for 180 yards against his former team, but the Eagles were hurt by three interceptions and just 85 yards rushing. Bryce Besgrove had a team-best 30 yards for Clay, while Echelberry (29) and Collin Greenawalt (26) also contributed on the ground.

Carter Walendzak and Max Morrison each had five receptions for Clay (3-3, 2-2 NLL), while Walendzak edged him out for the team-high in yardage, 54-53.

Findlay scored once in each of the first three quarters before putting the game away with 14 in the final quarter.

NORTHWOOD 53, WILLARD 32

Skyler Rita, who ran for 89 yards on 21 carries, had two touchdowns and four two-point conversions to help Northwood rally from a 26-7 halftime deficit.

The Rangers (3-3, 1-2 SBC) also got 104 yards on nine carries and a touchdown from Tyler Osley. DeAndre Curry scored twice. John Sawyer had seven carries for 88 yards, while Jason St. Claire and Nick Reinhart also scored once apiece for Northwood, who produced its first victory in the SBC.

LAKE 35, FOSTORIA 23

The Lake football team (2-4, 2-1 NBC) earned its second consecutive victory with a win over Fostoria behind 21 carries, 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns from Julian Rodriguez, who eclipsed 1,000 yards on the season. In fact, the running back also had two catches for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a receiver.

KJ Magers went 11-of-19 passing for 173 yards, while Gavin Kohlhofer caught six passes for 63 yards. Jaxson Rymers, Delfino Garcia, and Xavier Scott each also caught a pass for the Flyers.

Damion Penske carried the ball twice for 14 yards and a touchdown.

MARGARETTA 35, WOODMORE 0

Landon Rich had 54 yards on 19 carries as Woodmore (5-1, 2-1 SBC) suffered its first loss of the season while being held to 117 total yards. No other stats were available.

DANBURY 44, CARDINAL STRITCH 12
