Luidhardt has six TDs, Genoa clinches NBC, Clay secures playoff berth

EASTWOOD 41, MAUMEE 17

Drew Luidhardt tied a school record with six touchdown passes as Eastwood toppled Maumee in the regular season finale.

Luidhardt finished 14-of-22 passing for 319 yards and six touchdowns, which included three to Brayden Luidhardt, two to Cam Schumaker, and one to Trace Johnson.

Schumaker had a team-high 141 yards receiving on five catches, while Brayden Luidhardt had 138 yards on seven receptions. Johnson’s lone reception was his 33-yard touchdown.

Johnson also added 11 carries for 100 yards.

Defensively, Edmund Opfer had a team-best eight tackles. Levi Strayer and Logan Brown added seven apiece, while Schumaker (6) and Landon Weemes (5) combined for 11.

The Eagles (8-2, 6-1 NBC) also added three interceptions with one apiece from Brayden Luidhardt, Weems, and Zach Mullholand.

GENOA 35, LAKE 20

Genoa opened the second half with back-to-back touchdowns to break open a close game and secure an outright Northern Buckeye Conference title. It was their first league crown since 2018.

After Jaxon Magnone returned an onside kick attempt deep into Lake’s territory to open the second half, Alex Materni plunged into the endzone for a four-yard touchdown. After a defensive stop, Myles Mollenhauer added a score via a quarterback sneak on the ensuing drive as Genoa took a 28-6 lead.

Materni’s six-yard touchdown run, and Logan Routson’s 10-yard touchdown run gave Genoa a 14-0 lead in the first half. The Flyers responded with an 18-yard run from Julian Rodriguez to pull within eight at the half.

Mollenhauer completed 10-of-13 pass attempts for 102 yards, including a touchdown strike to Magnone, who produced six receptions for 57 yards. Ryan Routson had the other 45 yards receiving for the Comets.

Materni led Genoa (9-1, 7-0 NBC) on the ground with 64 yards on 13 carries, including his two touchdowns. Logan Routson finished with six carries for 49 yards. Ryan Routson had 24 yards on three carries.

Defensively, Evan Millner (14), Tyler Abbey (11), and Hunter Bickel (10) totaled double-digit tackles for Genoa, while Materni (9) and Logan Routson (7) combined for 16 more.

Rodriguez eclipsed 1,300 yards on the season with his 28-carry, 117-yard performance that also included his second touchdown in the fourth quarter. Jaxson Rymers added 13 carries for 55 yards.

KJ Magers completed 10-of-18 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 23-yard strike to Gavin Kohlhofer in the third quarter. Kohlhofer had a team-best 62 yards receiving.

Defensively, Grady Snoderly led Lake (2-8, 2-5 NBC) with eight tackles, while Rymers added seven.

CLAY 48, NORTHVIEW 7

Clay won big over Northview to earn a playoff berth.

The Eagles scored the game’s first 28 points, which included one-yard rushing touchdowns from Bryce Besgrove and Collin Greenawalt, a 12-yard touchdown pass from Landon Echelberry to Max Morrison, and a six-yard rushing touchdown from Greenawalt.

Greenawalt added his third touchdown early in the third quarter, and Echelberry found JJ Medina for a 35-yard touchdown three minutes later.

The final score for the Eagles came when Carter Schreiber found Carter Walendzak for a 28-yard touchdown pass with six minutes left.

Greenawalt needed just 43 yards to register his three touchdowns, which came over nine carries. Besgrove also had nine totes for a team-best 44 yards, while Kyle O’Neil (41), Echelberry (33), and Walendzak (20) combined for 94 yards.

Medina led Clay’s receivers with 80 yards on three catches. Brodi Ostrander (41), Walendzak (35), and Morrison (12) added 88 yards combined.

Defensively, Greenawalt had a team-best eight tackles, while Anthonio Gianino (7) and Brannan Vargas (6) combined for 13. The group of Corey Bobbs, Robert Stewart, Joseph Donley, and Kyle Henneman had five apiece.

Bobbs had two sacks, and Donley added one. Gianino and Henneman had one interception each.

 

OAK HARBOR 44, ROSSFORD 20

A 22-point second quarter helped Oak Harbor produce a come-from-behind victory over Rossford on the road.

Blake Nickel’s one-yard touchdown run in the opening minute of the second quarter gave Oak Harbor an 8-7 lead as Brennan Butzin ran in the two-point conversion.

The two teams then exchanged a flurry of scores to close the half.

Kason Marshall’s 15-yard touchdown run gave the Rockets a 16-7 lead with 2:48 left. Rossford answered back with a 41-yard touchdown strike just 37 seconds later, but Oak Harbor took a 22-14 lead into the break on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Breydan Porath to Cooper Schultz.

The Rockets opened the second half with touchdowns from Butzin and Micah Miller, which gave them a 38-14 lead with 8:45 left in regulation. Travis Bouyer added a six-yard touchdown run with just under five minutes left to close the game’s scoring.

Nickel led Oak Harbor’s ground game with 127 yards on 23 carries, while Bouyer (65) and Butzin (41) combined for 106 yards. Porath completed 5-of-7 passes for 63 yards, highlighted by 33 yards to Schultz. Wyatt Augsburger added 17 yards receiving.

Schultz produced two interceptions defensively, while Miller had a team-best eight tackles. Bouyer and Garret Perkins added four apiece.

Oak Harbor (8-2, 5-2 NBC) outrushed Rossford 295-43.

NORTHWOOD 26, LAKOTA 24

Northwood produced a tough win over Lakota to conclude its regular season behind Skyler Rita’s big day.

Rita had 16 carries for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Valyric Goings added a 12-yard touchdown reception from Nick Reinhart. Tyler Osley chipped in 82 yards passing and 86 yards rushing.

Kevin O’Donnell had a team-best 12 tackles for Northwood (4-6, 2-5 SBC) while Jayden Zuraski (9) and Carter Rita (8) combined for 17.

MARGARETTA 9, GIBSONBURG 6

Gibsonburg suffered a heartbreaking loss to Margaretta while falling just shy of a share for the SBC River Division title.

Neither team was able to score in the first half. Reece Walby then found Aiden Morant for an 18-yard touchdown through the air, completing a 13-play, 83-yard drive with 4:44 left in the third quarter.

Although the two-point conversion run failed, the Golden Bears held a 6-0 lead as the clock approached four minutes left in regulation.

That’s when an errant snap on a punt attempt resulted in a safety for Margaretta, and Jake Bouy added a touchdown on the ensuing drive, completing a 12-play, 53-yard drive with just 53 seconds left for a 9-6 lead.

Grant Smith rushed for 142 yards on 26 attempts for Gibsonburg (7-3, 5-2 NBC). Morant finished with two receptions for 28 yards, while Walby completed 3-of-8 passes for 48 yards.

Chuy Rodriguez (11) and Luke Foster (10) combined for 21 tackles to lead Gibsonburg’s defense. Smith added eight, while Dasch Sutter had six.

HOPEWELL-LOUDON 32, WOODMORE 6

Despite an early touchdown, Woodmore fell in its regular season finale.

Calvin Lipstraw’s 31-yard touchdown pass to Wesley Kayser with 8:08 remaining in the first quarter proved to be the only scoring for Woodmore.

Hopewell-Loudon scored twice over the duration of the quarter and touchdowns in each of the next three quarters.

Landon Rich was limited to 63 yards rushing on 17 carries for Woodmore (7-3, 4-3 SBC), which was outgained 349-161 in total yards, including 230-71 on the ground.

NOTE: Waite and Cardinal Stritch didn’t report stats. Stritch fell to St. Joseph Central Catholic, 34-14, and Waite fell to Napoleon, 49-0.
