Annual Winter Reading Challenge returns to Toledo Library

Posted

Readers of all ages can make early progress on their 2026 reading goals with Winter Read, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s annual winter reading challenge.

Youths and adults who read two books between Jan. 2 and Feb. 28 are eligible for Winter Read grand prize drawings.

“While the prizes are exciting, the real reward of Winter Read is time spent reading,” said Nancy Eames, Toledo Library’s youth services coordinator. “This challenge is about making reading a regular, enjoyable part of life and reminding our community of the many resources available through the Library.”

Starting Friday, Jan. 2, Toledo Library customers can register for Winter Read in one of three ways: online using the Winter Read form, in-person at any library location or logging into their Beanstack account. Local library branches include Oregon Branch, 3340 Dustin Rd.; Locke Branch, 703 Miami St., Toledo and Birmingham Branch, 203 Paine Ave., Toledo.

Participants who register for Winter Read will receive a sign-up prize—cozy hats for kids and grown-ups—while supplies last. Sign-up prizes can be redeemed at any Toledo Library location.

Grand prizes include Kindle Fires, Nintendo Switch Lites and various gift cards. Winners will be selected in a random drawing of all eligible participants in early March. Grand prizes must be picked up by Saturday, March 14.       Winter Read is sponsored by the Library Legacy Foundation of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library with additional support from Friends of the Library and Directions Credit Union.
