Elliston-born Crystal Bowersox, who briefly attended Oak Harbor High School before later gaining national fame by finishing as the runner-up on the hit show American Idol in 2010, performed a free outdoor concert at Levis Commons on June 26. Her friend and mentor, Bobby May, joined her on stage, as did John Barile on mandolin and guitars. Bowersox will soon be releasing a new album, as well. The performance kicked off a week of festivities to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
