Wood, Sandusky counties: Issues on the Nov. 5 ballot
Sandusky County voters in area school districts, townships, and municipalities will decide several issues in the Nov. 5 election:
-The Gibsonburg Exempted Village School District is seeking renewal of a 1-mill levy and an increase of 1 mill for permanent improvements. If approved, the levies would generate about $219,000 annually.
The district also sits partially in Wood County.
A levy informational session is set for Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend at 120 N. Webster St. in Gibsonburg.
-In Madison Township, voters will see a renewal issue on the ballot for a 1-mill levy that funds cemetery expenses. The levy would be in effect for five years and generate about $53,000 annually.
- Voters in Washington Township will decide a 2.45-mill levy renewal request that funds fire department expenses.
If renewed, the levy would be in effect for five years and generate about $195,000 annually.
-Rice Township voters will face a replacement and an increase in millage on the ballot. A 2-mill replacement and an increase of 0.75-mill will generate about $99,000 annually, if passed, and be used for fire department expenses.
The levy would be in effect for five years.
-In Woodville Township, a Sunday alcohol sale issue will be on the ballot by way of a petition.
Casey’s General Store, State Rt. 20, is asking for a D-6 liquor permit to sell wine and mixed beverages on Sunday.
Wood County
Five area townships are seeking renewal or additional millage for fire departments and Emergency Medical Service:
-Troy Township is seeking renewal of a 1.8-mill, 3-year levy for ambulance services.
-Plain Township is seeking replacement of a 2-mill, 5-year levy for fire protection and Emergency Medical Service.
-Montgomery Township is seeking renewal of a 3-mill, 5-year levy for the fire department. The township is also asking for an additional 0.3-mill for operating expenses. The additional millage would be in effect for three years if approved.
-Freedom Township is seeking renewal of a 1-mill, 5-year levy for the fire department and Emergency Medical Service.
The township is also seeking renewal of a 1-mill, 3-year levy used for operating expenses.
-Lake Township is seeking renewal of a 1-mill, 5-year levy for fire protection and an additional 1.5 mills for ambulance or Emergency Medical Service. The additional millage would be in effect for five years if passed.
One county-wide issue will be on the ballot in Wood County. The Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board is seeking renewal of a 1.6-mill, 10-year levy for mental health and addiction services.
Two area villages in Wood County have levy requests on the ballot. The Village of Millbury is seeking renewal of a 1-mill, 5-year levy for operating expenses and the Village of Pemberville is asking for a 0.5 percent increase in the income tax for municipal operations.
Voters in the Pemberville Library district will decide a 0.8-mill, 5-year replacement levy request.
