Virginia Jean Vrahiotes

Virginia Jean Vrahiotes, age 71, of Oregon, OH, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022. She was born in Oregon, OH to Robert and Helen (Goodwin) Parker on October 9, 1950. Jean lived most of her life in Oregon and was a 1968 graduate of Clay High School and a 1986 graduate of Owens Community College with a degree in nursing. Jean worked for many years at Mercy St. Charles Hospital as an RN. She loved reading, writing short stories and poems, but most of all she enjoyed bird watching at Magee Marsh and other surrounding areas. For Jean, everything was put on hold during the months of April and May for the best birding in the world in this area.

Jean is survived by her son; Paul J. Vrahiotes, her mother; Helen Parker, her siblings; John Parker and Terry Parker, her nephews; Andy Joe Taylor, Robert Parker, and Johnny Parker, her niece; Holly Parker, her special grand girl; Alexis Cousino, her special friends; Lila Mottmiller Altenbaugh, Bonnie Kennedy, Jan Billings and Crystal Cousino, her special birding friends; Martha Johns, Evelyn Schlachter, Sally Fay, and May Kleinhaus and many cousins, especially Kim and Cathy. She was preceded in death by her father; Bob Parker, her brother; Andy Joe Parker, her grandparents; Jessie and Dutch Parker, and Opal Carpenter; her special uncle, Jack Parker; her special aunt, Nancy Jones and many other aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives, too many to list.

“Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all."

Services will be private and per Jean’s request, remember her each time you hear a bird singing. Arrangements entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel, Oregon, OH.
