For the first time ever, The Victory Center (TVC) is purchasing their very own building and moving into their forever home in July. The new location will be 3166 N. Republic Blvd., Toledo, exactly two doors away from the space they are currently leasing.
The new building is 62% larger and includes a dedicated support group room, two large activity areas, four private therapy rooms, an outdoor garden area, and much more.
“We cannot be more excited to finally be moving into TVC’s forever home,” said Dianne Barndt, executive director. “With this additional space and a layout better suited to our needs, we will be able to offer more concurrent programming, as well as include larger class sizes. Our cancer survivors are going to love it.”
The Victory Center received a $100,000 grant from Toledo Community Oncology Program as it was disbanding in 2015, to be earmarked for a new building. Those funds will finally be put to use as a down payment for TVC’s new space. Two other donors came forward this spring, one with a $25,000 gift and another with a $10,000 gift in recognition of the center’s growth and a testament to TVC’s standing as the premier provider of cancer wellness in Northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
Portions of those gifts will be earmarked for building expenses, including moving expenses, closing costs, inspections and more.
As part of the celebration of 25 years of service to the cancer community and finding a forever home, The Victory Center has launched its Silver to Gold Campaign. The center is looking for 25 donors to get them to $50,000, and invites the public to join its mission of providing care, comfort and support to their neighbors, friends and family who have found support at TVC. Call Jackie Cummins, major gifts manager, at 419-531-7600 for more information on how to join the campaign and make an impact on the life of a cancer patient.
Oncology massage, Reiki, reflexology, Healing Touch, yoga, nutrition classes, Healthy Steps exercise, and aromatherapy are some of the many free services that will be offered in the new space. In addition, plans call for expanding support group offerings, art therapy, exercise classes and services to children in the new location.
The public will be invited to celebrate the grand opening, as well as The Victory Center’s 25th anniversary, at a Grand Opening Open House in late July. More details will be made available in the coming weeks.
The Victory Center was founded in 1996 to support and educate cancer patients and those closest to them by providing services aimed at meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those touched by cancer. Services are provided at no cost to patients.
