Thomas H. Gladieux
Thomas H. Gladieux, age 90, of Oregon, Ohio received his wings to continue his journey with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. He was born on October 28, 1933 in Oregon, Ohio to Elmer and Leona (Busson) Gladieux. Tom was a 1952 graduate of Clay High School where he ran track and field and played basketball. He is now included in the Clay Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduating he was hired at the Toledo Edison Company as a welder. In October 1954 he joined the U.S. Army and was mainly stationed in Panama guarding the canal. He was recruited to play basketball while in the Army. After serving two years, he was back in Toledo working for the Edison again.
Tom met the love of his life, Barbara Hall, in 1957 at a dance and married the next year. He joined the Oregon Volunteer Fire Department in the early 1960’s when they moved across the street from Station #2. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was always active, enjoying bowling, golfing, playing softball, boating, and fishing. Tom and Barb loved traveling, including all 50 states and Canada. They loved loading up the car and driving off to whatever destination Barb had decided they were headed.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Kim (Dan) Nagel; sons, David Gladieux, and Alan (Valerie) Gladieux; sisters, Shirley Cabla, Virginia (Gilbert) Lowder, Joanne (David) Luoma, and Carol (Tim) Lannen, his favorite uncle, Barney Gladieux; four grandchildren, Max Nagel, Nicholas, Andrew, and Leah Gladieux. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard and brother-in-law, Joe Cabla.
