Service set for WW II veteran
Oregon Ohio resident SSGT. Jack W. Coy, was listed MIA/KIA on Feb. 24, 1944. His remains were recently identified after 80 years. He was a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator, with the 8th USAAF, 445th, 703rd.
His plane was shot down over Germany, during mission “Big Week”, February 1944.
In September 2023, his remains were identified through DNA testing from family members. The family is bringing SSGT. Jack Coy home to be buried with his family in Oregon.
The family would be honored for friends, the Oregon community, active military and veterans to honor Jack and our fallen heroes this weekend.
The Coy, Smith, Koch, Zak, Hahn, Johns, Zam, and Beard families thank veterans for their service.
On May 25, in the Clay High School gymnasium, Stadium Rd. visitation/service with honors will be held from 1-3 p.m. There will be a veterans special presentation to the family in honor of SSGT. Coy at 3 p.m.
On May 26 at Willow Cemetery, Pickle Rd. Noon, Military service and burial. Processional from Eggleston Meinert funeral home at 11 a.m.
On May 27, Clay High School Memorial Stadium, Seaman Road, 11 a.m, special services for all fallen local heroes.
