Ryan Hicks appointed as Terra State men’s basketball coach
Terra State Community College announced the appointment of Ryan Hicks as the new head coach of the men’s basketball team.
Hicks served as the assistant coach this past season and brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
“The hiring of Coach Hicks brings stability to the program in a coach knowledgeable about the OCCAC (Ohio Community College Athletic Conference) and with ties to local high school and AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) teams. Familiarity with local athletes and coaches will allow for the development of a strong and competitive roster,” said Terra Athletic Director Lindi Cahill.
Hicks previously served as the head boys varsity basketball coach at his alma mater, Port Clinton High School. As a student at Port Clinton, he was a First Team All-Ohio player and led the team to the Division II State Championship Game in 2010. As a coach, he guided the school to back-to-back Division II Sectional Championship games.
A graduate of Defiance College, Hicks earned his Bachelor of Arts degree and was also a member of the men’s basketball team.
“As the new men’s basketball coach at Terra State, I am excited to build a winning tradition that is reflected both on and off the court. Thank you to the hiring committee and school for this opportunity,” Hicks said.
