Penta Career Center’s Cosmetology students, staff and alumni are hosting a Cut-A-Thon to benefit former student Danielle Pearson on Monday, Feb. 3 from 12:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the Penta campus, 9301 Buck Rd. in Perrysburg Township.
Pearson, who completed Penta’s Cosmetology program in 2017, is currently dealing with severe health issues. She contracted the flu and was admitted to the hospital on Christmas morning. Her conditioned worsened, leading to a collapsed lung. She was taken by medical helicopter to Cleveland Clinic. Further complications led to the amputation of her leg above the knee. She continues to have almost daily surgeries needed to repair damage from infection, and will eventually need a prosthetic leg. All proceeds raised at the event will be donated to Pearson’s family to help pay for her medical expenses.
Haircuts, shampoo and styles, facial waxing and basic manicures will be offered for a minimum donation of $5. Several former licensed students will be joining current students at the event. A bake sale will also be available during the Cut-A-Thon.
Visitors who plan to participate in the Cut-A-Thon must enter the Penta building at the Cosmetology entrance – door E3. Parking is available near the entrance.
