Oak Harbor holds communication committee meeting

The Benton-Carroll-Salem Local School District held a communication committee meeting on Feb. 4 in the Board of Education office to discuss their latest business.
 
Athletic director Justin Slauterbeck went over the latest brainstorming on his project of figuring out a solution for creating a standalone athletics website for the school that would include schedules, scores, pictures, etc.
 
Looking to streamline coach communication, the district is also looking at programs to create an attendance reward system for students at athletic events.
 
Instructor Elly Gilbert updated the group on her graphic design class. The students are now “very proficient” in Photoshop and are looking to learn Illustrator soon.              
 
Gilbert said the class is designing the invitations and tickets for prom this year. She is also working on coming up with additional clients for her students to gain experience with at the school and potentially the community, and that’s in process.
 
The committee also discussed other projects, including a potential magazine and the continuous improvement of social media communication efforts.
 
The academic committee will meet Feb. 10 at 4:45 p.m. in the Board of Education office.
