A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Northwood Community Center will be held May 20 at 10 a.m.
The center is located at the former Woodville Mall site on a 120-acre development now called The Enclave.
The first open house of the community center will follow the ribbon-cutting – 10:30 a.m. to noon – and a second will be held from 4-8 p.m.
Additional open houses will be held May 21-23 from 9 a.m. to noon and 4-8 p.m.
Guests will be entered into a drawing to receive a free, one-year individual or family membership.
One name will be drawn at the end of each day for a total of four winners.
The center features a gymnasium lined for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball as well as an indoor walking/running track with three lanes.
The weight/fitness area is equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines, Peloton bikes, adjustable weight machines, free weights, stair climbing machines, recumbent bikes, and rowing machines.
Showers and lockers are available for daily use and there is an exam room for the Wood County Women Infant Children program.
A multipurpose room is designed to host programs, meetings, and special events. The room has a built-in kitchenette and an outdoor fenced patio.
The city was awarded $1 million through a state capital budget request to help fund the construction of the community center.
Membership information is available on the city’s website.
