Board of elections
to meet Aug. 15
The Ottawa County Board of Elections will meet Thursday, Aug. 15, at 10:30 a.m. for a regular board meeting and to address other business that comes before the board.
The meeting will be held at the board office, located at 8444 W. SR 163, Oak Harbor, in the Veterans Memorial Building.

Volunteers needed
The Wood County Park District is seeking volunteers to help spread mulch around the playgrounds at Otsego Park on Thursday, Aug 15.
There are two playgrounds at the park, which is located at 20000 West River Dr., Bowling Green. Volunteers may sign up to help at one of two sessions – 9-11 a.m. or 12-2 p.m. All materials and tools will be provided and an air-conditioned cooling and refreshment station will be available

Open house set
The Northwestern Water and Sewer District (The District) will host its annual Open House, commemorating three decades of providing essential water and sewer services to communities across Northwestern Ohio, on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 3-6 p.m. at 12560 Middleton Pike, Bowling Green.
Highlights of the free event include:
• A presentation at 4 p.m. featuring a timeline of The District’s history, from its inception to the present.
• A guided tour of the facility.
• A meet-and-greet with members of the board of trustees.
• Family fun and entertainment including bounce houses, fishing, caricature art, a carnival petting zoo and giveaways.
• Food, including burgers, hot dogs, chips and self-serve ice cream.
• Meet Drippy, The District’s Waterdrop mascot.

Pet treat-tasting event
Tractor Supply Company, 3942 Navarre Ave., Oregon, will host a pet treat-tasting event Saturday, Aug. 10, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This event will give pets the chance to sample a variety of treats available at Tractor Supply Company.

P.C. Arts Council
hosting fiber artist
The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council is hosting an exhibit featuring fiber artist Faith Humphrey Hill. She is best known for portrait artwork that combines knitting and drawing with digital tools.
Hill received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Masters in Arts Management from Columbia College. For 20 years, she helped artists discover and make art through leadership positions in galleries, museums, and community arts organizations. Currently she is a professional artist and social media manager/graphic designer.
Hill’s work will be on display at The Arts Garage, 317 W. Perry St., Port Clinton, Ohio, from August 15 through September 15, 2024, with an artist's reception (free and open to all) on August 16, from 5-8 p.m.
Percussionist Dylan Ryan will be joined by Emmy-nominated composer Heather McIntosh and guitarist Devin Ryan to provide the music at the artist's reception on August 16. Their most recent recording, Light from a Curious Sky, was recorded at a New Mexico mountainside.
The Arts Garage offers classes for children and adults, with Hill offering classes as well. Children who live in Ottawa County may take classes at no cost, but must be accompanied by an adult. Interested persons can register at www.gpcaac.org. The Arts Garage is open Thursday-Sunday, 11-4 p.m.
