Clay Twp. project
nears completion
A drainage improvement project in Clay Township is expected to be completed this week, according to the Ottawa County Engineer’s office.
Work began June 24 on Martin-Williston Road, between Camper and Fulkert roads, and is expected to be completed by the end of July 3.
The section of Martin-Williston is closed to two-way traffic during project hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., but local residents are being permitted to access their homes.
The road is open to two-way traffic daily at the end of each work day. Emergency vehicles, buses, and local traffic are being accommodated but should expect delays.
Pedestrians and bicyclists using the North Coast Inland Trail are permitted through the construction zone but should also expect delays.
Others are advised to use alternate routes.

Grant awarded to
conservancy
The Black Swamp Conservancy is among the organizations to receive a grant from the education fund of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
The conservancy, which operates in Wood, Lucas, and Henry counties, is receiving $34,647 to train and support teachers to use conservancy lands to educate students.
The grant will cover a workshop and backpacks with learning materials for students taking field trips to conservancy lands.
The agency's environmental education grants, totaling $271,000, are going to communities for wetland education, water quality, biodiversity initiatives, habitat restoration, and home drinking water and septic system maintenance.
