Nature’s nursery fundraiser auction is live through Oct. 13
The 5th Annual Battle Of The Birdhouses auction to benefit Nature’s Nursery is under way, with more than 50 houses being auctioned off to raise money and win a prize.
Battle Of The Birdhouses first launched in 2020 when the pandemic forced Nature’s Nursery to think outside of the box to get supporters engaged and raise funds for the local non-profit wildlife rescue.
The challenge was simple. Build a birdhouse and donate it to Nature’s Nursery to be auctioned off as a fundraiser. The builder of the house that sells for the most wins $500 from the fundraiser sponsor, GenoaBank. Although it sounds basic, the community has taken the challenge to a whole new level with their creativity, uniqueness and friendly feather slinging competition.
“Each year I have said that we will keep hosting this fundraiser until our supporters get bored with it and each year they outbuild themselves again” said Allison Aey, Nature’s Nursery executive director. “The houses are amazing. Everything from intricate cabins and churches, Jeep themes and cottages have been submitted this year.”
This year, Northview High School entered 15 houses from its art program. The students were extra creative with their styles and designs.
The houses can be viewed on the auction site at www.32auctions.com/birdhouses2024. Bidding will be open until 8 p.m. on October 13th.
