Michael D. "Mike" "Frog" Murray

Michael D. “Mike” “Frog” Murray, 70 of Elmore, OH died Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at his home under Hospice Care surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1953 in Fremont, OH to the late James M. “Cork” and Julia D. (Vargo) Murray. He was a 1972 graduate of Woodmore High School. On March 27, 1976 he married Dianne Sayre, and she survives. Mike started his employment at Ohio Lime, then was retired with disability from Conrail in 1995. He then became a Harris Township Employee as Road Supervisor retiring in 2013. 

Frog was a  volunteer for the Harris-Elmore Fire and EMS Department for 36 years, where he served as Fire Chief from 2003 - 2013. He was on the department at a time where the Fire Department and EMS consolidated. It was his passion to “Answer the Call”. He was also a member of Gracepoint Church in Northwood.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dianne of Elmore; children: Michael (Kristie) Murray, Michelle (Aaron) Hunt both of Elmore, and Jacob Murray of Tiffin, OH; grandchildren: Courtney (Logan), Zachary, Keegan, Melanie, Caleb, and Ava Dee; great-granddaughter Julia. 

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20th from 4-8pm and again Friday, Dec 21st from 9am-8pm with the family present 4-8pm on Thursday and 2-4 & 6-8pm on Friday at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. State Route 51, Elmore. Funeral Services will begin at 11am at Woodmore High School, 633 Fremont Street, Elmore, OH 43416. Burial will follow in Harris-Township Union Cemetery, Elmore. Following the Committal Service at the Cemetery, family and friends are invited back to the Elmore Fire Station for a time of celebration. Memorial Contributions may be made to Harris-Elmore Fire Department. Online condolences may be shared with the family at
