Mary M. Batchman

Mary M. Batchman, 83, of Oregon, OH, died Tuesday, March 22, 2022 in Ottawa County Riverview.  Mary was born on April 18, 1938 to Walter and Ruth Manz.  She married Robert Batchman in 1957 and he preceded her in death.  Mary worked many years as a school bus driver and also at Maumee Bay State Park.  After retiring from Oregon City Schools, Mary enjoyed playing softball and volleyball, watching all types of sports, walking miles with her Labrador, traveling, and caring for her yard.  

Survivors include daughter; Cindy Alspach, Venice FL, son; Scott Batchman, Medina OH, grandson; Kristophor Alspach, granddaughters; Amy and Aaron Batchman, dearest niece; Sandy Volschow, nephews; John and Jerry Wodrich, and great-nieces; Erin and Jacki. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son; Ross Batchman, grandson; Brian Batchman, sister; Carolyn Wodrich, and brother; Jerry Manz.  

Per Mary’s wishes there will be no visitation or services. The family requests that any donations in remembrance of Mary be made to the Oregon Fire Department in honor of son Ross who was a volunteer fireman, or to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice.  

The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the exceptional staff at Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus who went above and beyond each and every day in caring for Mary. Arrangements entrusted to Freck Funeral Chapel.
