Margie A. Winters

Margie A. Winters, 92, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 7, 1930 in Oak Harbor, a daughter of Albert and Mattie (Hemminger) Rose. Margie graduated in 1948 from Salem-Oak Harbor High School.

On June 2, 1950, Margie married Clyde Winters, the love of her life and high school sweetheart. They shared 62 years together until Clyde’s passing in 2014. Margie worked a few years at the Ottawa County Recorder’s Office until after the birth of her first two children. She became a full time loving housewife and mother to six additional children for her remaining life.

Margie was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, and she thoroughly enjoyed her in home visits recently from Pastor Darryl Hamm.

Margie loved all her family dearly and spending time with them. She loved watching game shows, country music, and polka shows, and of course her favorite baseball team, The Guardians. Margie also loved doing word search puzzles and scratching off lottery tickets.

Margie is survived by her eight children: Mike (Pam) Winters, Debbie Genzman, Patrick (Kathleen) Winters, Gary (Kathy) Winters, Lori (Joe) Gast, Jerry (Shannon) Winters, Eric (Dawn) Winters, and Marci (Bob) Gagne. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, a sister, Emma Wilburn, and her loving Goddaughter, Carol (Wilburn) Everett.  Margie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Ralph, Frank, and Arthur Rose, her sister Luella Paulsen, and her grandsons, Joshua Rollheiser and Jamie Fairbanks.

Per Margie’s wishes, a graveside service was held for her immediate family at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, with Rev. Darryl Hamm officiating. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to please consider the Memorial Fund of St. Paul United Church of Christ or Western Reserve (Stein) Hospice.

The family would like to personally thank all the wonderful, caring staff of nurses from Western Reserve (Stein) for the care and compassion shown to their mother during her final days.
