Joella J. Brough

Joella J. Brough, 96, of Genoa, Ohio  passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021 at St. Charles Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on September 4, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to George and Thelma Harsh.  Joella married Arthur Brough Sr. on July 2, 1952 and together they enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Arthur passed 24 years ago. 

Joella is survived by her children: Jo Anna Mull and Arthur (Tanya) Brough Jr., 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Joella worked at Zion Lutheran Church as a secretary for 20 years and then at Portage Valley as a secretary to Pastor Pete Johnson for 17 years. She was also a talented seamstress making clothes years ago and also crocheting hats, scarfs and afghans for loved ones and many others. Joella was recently making kids hats for Zion Lutheran Church. She loved reading , going out to eat, shopping and taking care of her many cats. She found her last cat, “Pete” at the pound and loved him dearly. As her life came to a close, so did her front porch restaurant that fed hundreds of cats over the years, now Jo’s Restaurant is officially closed! 

Joella was laid to rest at the Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, Ohio.
