Golfing for The Cocoon

The Saint John XXIII Knights of Columbus Council 14502, in Perrysburg, are having their annual golf outing Saturday, July 31 at Riverby Hills Golf Club with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

This year proceeds from this event are designated to go to The Cocoon Shelter of Wood County.  The Cocoon provides safety, healing and justice assistance for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their family.

The Cocoon provides 24/7 services to survivors. The Cocoon serves women, men and children and is one of the few agencies of its kind in the country to be able to house family pets. The shelter responds to an average of 6,000 calls per year and serves approximately 600 survivors and their children, 10 percent of which access its emergency shelter. The additional 90 percent of its impact happens outside its doors assisting survivors living within the community. Services are provided at no cost to the survivor throughout their lifetime.

It costs $1,616 to support emergency safe shelter for 16 days for a family fleeing abuse, $1,016 to support children’s programming, $616 to support 24/7 crisis coverage, $216 to support prevention programming, $116 to supply 12 meals for a family in shelter and $56 to support the Safe Pets shelter program.

To golf, the cost is $75 per player or $300 per foursome. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, hole challenges,  a $500 hole-in-one prize, gift bag and meal at the turn. There will be a 50/50 raffle, big board raffle with high value prizes, instant lottery ticket raffle.

There are divisions for men, women and mixed teams. To register or get information contact Daryl Brunswick at 419-266-2928 or daryl.brunswick@gmail.com
